Emotions are very powerful and they impact your health whether you are aware of them or not. Emotion technically, is not the same as feelings. Emotion is the perception that colors your reaction to a particular thought.
You either experience a “like it” emotion, or a “don’t like it” emotion. Once the emotion is connected with the thought, the thought plus emotion is processed in your nervous system to create the feeling in your body. These feelings are literally chemicals that affect your body at a cellular level. They form memory in your body’s tissues.
I used to repress my feelings because I had conditioned myself unconsciously to fear feeling pain. This is really a learned behavior. While feeling negative may not be the most pleasant experience, repressing feelings is very unhealthy, psychologically as well as physically.
Stress and repressed negative emotion is at the root of at least 85% of disease. Look at the word disease – “Dis-Ease” or not at ease. The lack of ease, the feeling of fear and struggle can gradually kill you. It is at the root of cancer and chronic illness. Illness does not just come out of nowhere. It is a combination of nature and nurture.
You may have a tendency toward certain diseases due to genetic composition but you DO NOT have to manifest the illness in your life. How you think and feel is a major contributor to whether or not you will experience the disease as well as your nutritional intake. While environment, including dietary and exercise habits matter, your emotional health is the main driving factor.
Age is not naturally associated with disease. Our Creator did not design us to last a few short years and then start to suffer and deteriorate from chronic sickness. Unfortunately, ignorance is not bliss.
Stress and emotional pain can be dealt with by learning how to manage and operate your own mind, the most powerful “supercomputer” on the planet. Health, true wholeness is undertaken from a “spirit, mind and body” approach. You are not a meat machine.
You have to nurture your spirit, consciously manage your mind, and care for and love your body if you wish to thrive. As we undergo rapid change in our world, it has never been more important that you re-educate yourself and free your thinking from limiting beliefs that contribute to unhealthy lifestyles and stress.
Once you learn ways to release old emotional wounds from the body’s memory, you will discover that it gets easier as time goes on. Emotional Freedom Technique is one way to begin to address these damaging emotions. Like anything else, the more you do it, the easier it gets. I no longer fear my feelings and it is one of the most liberating changes I’ve made in my life.
If you want to be able to co-create consciously and create a state of long-term health and abundance, healing your emotions is a powerful step in the right direction!

EFT is great, and so is just sitting, and waiting for the emotion to come up. (Might actually increase your need for EFT) When your emotions surface it is a chance to release them, even if ya don't understand, yes? You are so right, EFT helps so much.
We are kindred spirits. My blog is dedicated to help those with heart failure, and everyone else! I am echoing you on the emotional suppression. It is huge. The beginning of the end.
In my recent post I talk about how emotions are our spiritual compass, meant to be used like a sign post. We aren't to dig them up and take them with us. The are meant to be released through expression.
Reading someone who is like minded is a blessing, thank you.
