Confidence is a quality that empowers you to develop your authentic self. If you need the approval of others to feel good about yourself, or if you need permission from others to follow your dreams you are not going to live an abundant life.
I believe that the abundant life is available to anyone who sets the intention to live it and then proceeds to deal with the blind spots in their life that hold them back from living it. This is the challenging part, as most people “want their cake and eat it too”, meaning, they want the results without giving up something for it.
If you want to grow and expand, what you generally have to give up are your old habits and limiting beliefs that keep you playing small. This can be quite uncomfortable.
What is an abundant life? This is a subjective question. What abundance means for me may be quite different for you. The key is to get in touch with your unique vision and gifts and proceed from there. Some people want to travel, and are attracted to material beauty. I can relate to this.
In fact, I prefer to travel first class, given a choice and while I love nature, I prefer to sleep in the Four Season Hotel. Now, there are actually people out here who would judge me for wanting to sleep in a beautiful hotel. Stop and think about it.
First of all, it is none of their business, but secondly, what does my sleeping preference have to do with my generosity of heart, contribution to humanity or…spirituality? What’s money got to do with it? Well, having grown up in a culture that generally had issues with money, within religion as well as in their personal lives, I know the controversy that can ensue.
Our Universe can expand to whatever it needs to accommodate; the Universe is infinite in its creativity. There is no such thing as “zero sum gain”. When I was a teen-ager, there were no billionaires. Now we hear routinely about billionaires and trillion dollar deficits. Where did all that money come from? You need to stop and think about it the next time you think that your having plenty is keeping someone else back.
I know, from personal experience, that the more I have, the more I have to share. If I am struggling to keep my shelter, I am not very likely to make much of an impact on the lives of others. It does take confidence though to stand up to lack conscious thinking and stand your ground.
In order for us to have world peace, we have to make peace within ourselves and with those in our lives by minding our own business and stop all of the judgment. If money and luxury is not your preference, let the Universe deal with the lives of others. When we mind our own garden, we can grow a life full of beauty and variety instead one of drama and anger about what others are doing with their personal finances.
Money matters if you want to live free of debt, having plenty to share and fiancé your education and sightseeing of our beautiful planet. You are also more abundant when you can stop trading so much of your time for money by going to a job that you hate. The abundant life and spirituality are not mutually exclusive, but it may take confidence to stand up and be your authentic self.
