Confidence is not about acting a certain way; it is about being authentic. It is the confidence to be self-actualized and to stop trying to be another copycat of some media image that you've been manipulated into seeking.
This attempt to conform is really related to a deep-seated, unconscious belief in "survival of the fitness". This is rooted in insecurity around safety and the need to be loved. While is it human to want to feel love and security, it is a distortion to seek it first outside of yourself.
You will not really ever transcend the search for security and love as long as you give your focus of power to people, places and things outside of yourself. You must first love yourself in order to "find" the security and love that you need.
I've learned this first hand. I grew up, real or not, perceiving that I did not quite "fit in" into my environment on many levels. While there was some factual examples of rejection going on in my world, being a child, the rejection felt almost life threatening. The issue for me and all of us is that many of our decisions about "how life is" are based on the intellectual understanding and memory of a three-year-old!
It could even come from old energetic memory patterns in our cellular memory and bio-energetic fields. You are hearing more and more about energy these days (and not just "green" energy), because we are entering a new era of understanding. The old way of doing things is collapsing as new understanding emerges.
This does not have to be a scary proposition; in fact, it can be a time of excitement and new opportunity if you start to view the change with an open mind. While I understand how even scientifically our minds and brain, our very nervous system is wired to survive, we can conscious change the old patterns that keep us fearful, stuck in a rut, and not living our best lives of health, wealth or abundance.
However, in order to get beyond this mindset and live more confidently, we must be willing to empower ourselves with a new way of viewing life. We have to begin to see a new vision with our mind's eye before we can ever hope of changing what we are currently seeing with our physical eyes. This is because, what we currently "see" is really based on how we have previously wired our brains to "see" - literally.
What you expect to see is pretty much what you get. Of course, in order to increase your likelihood of conscious co-creation, you have to also learn how to eliminate the old energetic patterns (old beliefs) that are unconsciously out of your awareness. These have more power than weak new hopes that are only "in your head". Old unconscious beliefs are stored in the body, in your feelings.
Empowerment is about learning how to forgive, drop the conditioned shaming programs and guilt that were formed in early life and do it as quickly and as effectively as possible. In order to go on this new journey however, the old model of holding on to what you currently believe without consideration of new information has to be dealt with.
You cannot live at a new level by doing the same things over and over. The starting point is willingness and claiming your "response-ability". Are you ready to thrive in this new millennium?

Thank you Valencia for the insights. Your mastery of the science of confidence is very useful. So what are some of the ways you teach your clients to empower themselves? Larry

Hi Larry,
Thanks for stopping by. There are several places to start depending on the client. Since "empowerment" is about power from within, understanding the new information on how our brain and mind work in terms of perception is very crucial. Then there is the issue of considering the science of "ego", the part of "autobiographical memory" that forms our personality and self-inflicted suffering and how to develop mastery over the ego's delusions. It is a journey of discovering the "True Self". Yet another area is to begin to understand with practical application how the way that we think and feel co-creates our experiences. Addressing the science behind "everything is energy" and what this means in managing our "reality" is yet another road to empowerment. As you can see, it is an adventure, and the pace at which one travels can be as individual as our fingerprint. Hope this is helpful. I am planning a series of teleclasses to begin to cover this material in more depth. ...Stay posted!
