Confidence and Empowerment begins with beliefs. Beliefs are not written in stone by any means. Beliefs are formed from how you perceive the thoughts and feelings that you have from your experiences and from what you were told about how life works.
Now it does not mean that the belief has to be the Truth of the Universe. It does not matter. If the belief is emotionalized, a heart-felt way of seeing reality, then the outcome of the belief will be what impacts your life.
I used to think that what I believed was the way life was – end of conversation. Little did I know that my ego was running the show and the way I was looking at life was limiting my experience in every area of my life. It really is “be it unto you as you believe”.
Our faith determines how we see. Most of us have heard the saying “seeing is believing”. The truth is, “believing is seeing”. You can take ten people and they can give you ten versions of “how life is”. Some of them may also get highly defensive and angry if your version differs from their own.
Most of us over-identify with our beliefs as if they are WHO we are and not simply WHAT we think! YOU are not your thoughts!
Here is the bottom line:
If what you believe is creating a happy, healthy, fulfilling life for you, then you already have it “goin’ on” and it would behoove you to continue holding onto these empowering beliefs. If your life is not going in the direction that inspires you and has lead you onto a path that you feel is purposeful, then you may want to consider changing your limiting beliefs that are holding you back, your blind spots.
Empowerment is about change from the inside out, transformation. It is recognizing the possibilities and reaching out for them to make them your reality. I have come to see that life is about choice, not chance. I am not a victim of my circumstances.
I have the ability to respond to life in any given moment in such a way that I can either change or certainly transcend the way that I perceive the present moment and I can do it in an empowering instead of disempowering manner.
As Richard Bach once said, “Argue for your limitations and they are yours”. What do you think? You can? You can’t? If you are not sure, just notice your results in life; the Mirror of Life never lies!
